In the UK, an estimated 150,000 to 500,000 Dalits lack protection against discrimination that often manifests as bullying and harassment in workplace, health, social care and educational institutes, lack or denial of promotional opportunities and a denial or refusal to provide goods and services. Until caste is recognised as a form of discrimination in the UK under specific legislation, there is no appropriate recourse to justice for Dalit communities and their right to equality and dignity is denied
